Fantasie

by:

Danijel Cerović

In this lesson, Danijel Cerovic, member of the world-famous Montenegrin Guitar Duo, teaches the short Baroque composition 'Fantasie', by Sylvius Leopold Weiss. The two sections of the piece contain unique challenges–part one is very legato, requiring careful coordination of the left hand, while part two demands precision in stopping strings with the right hand. As is the case with many Baroque pieces, the performer must be able to account for multiple voices at once and carefully balance the hand accordingly. Danijel shares musical insights on phrasing, dynamics, tempo, and color, and gives advice for how to deepen your understanding and interpretation of the piece.
