"Twinkle" Variations

By

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart

Mozart's "Twelve Variations on "Ah, vous dirai-je, Maman" (Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star)," K. 265, is a composition from 1781. These variations are based on a popular French folk tune that is better known today as the melody for "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star." Mozart's inspiration for this piece came from the tradition of creating variations on well-known melodies of the time. These variations remain a cherished part of his piano repertoire and are celebrated for their inventiveness and the enduring appeal of the original tune.
