The new tonebase Violin platform features a curated library of pre-recorded lessons and courses taught by renowned violinists and pedagogues including Glenn Dicterow, Aleksey Igudesman, Shmuel Ashkenasi, Augustin Hadelich, and more (see full roster below).
In addition to the content library – which is updated with new releases every week – users also have access to weekly LIVE workshops and lectures from instructors as well as the supportive tonebase Community Forums where they can ask questions, receive feedback on their playing, and interact with fellow tonebase members.
tonebase names Virtuoso Violinist Eric Silberger as Head of Violin
For many years, Eric Silberger has been performing on the great stages of the world with some of the most important musicians of our time. Among many other accolades, the Juilliard-trained soloist is a prize winner at the XIV International Tchaikovsky Competition. Now, as tonebase’s new Head of Violin, Eric is working with his distinguished violin colleagues in a new environment: in front of the camera.
Eric is a fourth-generation violinist who has studied with violin icons such as Itzhak Perlman, Glenn Dicterow, Pinchas Zukerman, Dorothy DeLay, and has soloed with conductors such as Lorin Maazel, Michael Tilson-Thomas, Valery Gergiev, and Donald Runnicles.
“I’m excited for this next chapter with tonebase. I’ll get to record priceless practical knowledge from the greatest minds in violin — insights that would otherwise be lost. I'll be part of creating amazing, never-before-seen content. And I'll also get to introduce you to elite artists of our time in a personal way… where you truly get to know them. Even more than you would in a master class! This is why tonebase is an exciting next step for me.”
Launch Of New Platform Furthers tonebase’s Mission To Democratize Access To High-Quality Music Education
Since its beginnings in a Yale practice room in 2017, tonebase’s mission has always been to democratize access to the highest-quality music education, allowing passionate players around the world to learn from and be inspired by the best.
As classically-trained conservatory musicians themselves, the founders of tonebase felt that something needed to be done about the lack of access to classical music education, previously only available for the select few.
“We ourselves were very fortunate to attend prestigious music schools and learn from the world’s top instructors. However, we noticed that our teachers could only accept a handful of students into their studio each year which meant very few people actually got to learn directly from these incredible musical minds. By utilizing technology and building a platform to share the ideas of these great instructors, we seek to provide a way that everyone can learn from world-class instructors regardless of whether they were accepted to Juilliard or Yale.”
At the core of tonebase’s Classical Guitar, Piano, and now Violin platforms, you'll find 1,000+ lessons, courses, and interviews taught by dozens of world-class instructors including pianists Emanuel Ax, Garrick Ohlsson, and the late Leon Fleisher and guitarists Pepe Romero, Ana Vidovic, and David Russell. The addition of violin brings the team one step further towards fulfilling their mission.
