Du bist die Ruh

By

Franz Schubert

Franz Schubert's "Du bist die Ruh", D. 776; Op. 59, No. 3, composed in 1823, is a Lied for solo voice and piano with text by Friedrich Rückert. Set in E-flat major and marked larghetto, the song requires excellent legato and breath control. The vocal range spans from D4 to F5. The piano accompaniment is light and supportive, enhancing the piece's tranquil mood. The song consists of five stanzas, with a sixth created by repeating the final lines, and features delicate dynamics, mostly marked pianissimo.
